Melton Mowbray Arts Festival takes place from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st April 2013
Her Grace, The Duchess of Rutland will open the event at 11.00am on Friday in the Market Place, after which she will be signing copies of her books in More Coffee Co. Author Alison Moore will also be signing copies of her Man Booker Prize shortlisted book 'The Lighthouse' in Melton Bookshop from 11.00am to 12.00 noon.
Throughout the three days, there will be a variety of street entertainment as well as art exhibitions in a range of indoor venues including the Penman Spicer Hall, St Mary's Church and Melton Library. Also from 10.00am to 4.00pm each day there will be arts and crafts stalls in and around the Market Place. There's more going on too! For further information, please visit the Melton Mowbray Arts Festival website or see the flyers that will be available during the festival.
The festival ends on Sunday, when hundreds of people will also visit the Town Centre for two annual events. Firstly at around 12.15pm the Scouts St George's Day Parade will start from Thorpe End, before travelling along Sherrard Street, Leicester Street, then turning into St Mary's Church. Then at around 3.00pm spectators will see the climax of the 180km+ Rutland to Melton CiCLE classic on Sherrard Street.
It should be a great few days for the town, and Melton Mowbray People will be out and about capturing the events. We'd love to see your pictures too! You can upload them directly to the site via the 'Pictures' tab in the title bar. (You'll need to Join / Login - and this can be done with your Facebook, Google or Twitter ID)
