  I have recently noticed an increasing number of cars on the road showing front lights in daylight. A little research has shown me that all new cars registered after a certain date must have "driving lights", to comply with an EU requirement. This is patently absurd in this country and, in my opinion, could be even dangerous, because of dazzle and confusion with motorbikes, where a front headlight is useful for visibility...

  Hundreds of Scouts, Cubs and Beavers took part in their annual St George's Day Parade in Melton Mowbray on Sunday (21st April 2013) - see video further down page.   A motocross rider was airlifted to hospital with serious leg injuries after crashing his bike in an accident. The casualty, a man in his twenties, injured his leg when he came off his vehicle in a field on the outskirts of Melton on Sunday.
